No time like the present.

I was out walking with my dog a few days ago, and out of the blue he ran up to me and kissed me European style ( a smooch on each cheek). After feeling very flattered (Edward is just not the touchy feely type) I started to get nervous that this may be a sign that my dog is feeling older, and sentimental in his advanced years. This scares the hell out of me as my dog is the love of my life , and the thought that he may one day no longer be there just tears me up inside.

I realize that I am in an ideal time in my life.I have a job I love, a home( well OK a small condo) in a gorgeous area ,and I live with the love of my life Edward.Of course all of these situations are very temporary .I wish I could just stop time , and linger here a while.

Some people live in the past .They like to idealize their younger high school/college years.Personally you couldn't pay me to return to those years, but for some that was their ideal time. Then there are those who live for the future.Putting every plan and thought into that time they can retire, graduate, raise a family, or have a better career.I admire those who plan ahead, but for me when I attempt to look in to my future I feel like a Harp seal pup about to get clubbed.( sorry for the image ).

So, for now I am here in my near perfect moment.I realize how lucky I am as very few people get to live in the moment when they know their lives are great. The future will come one way or another, and who knows It may turn out fine maybe my Harp seal self will avoid people with clubs , and I can simply continue to grow in to a happy over sized adult seal.

The past, and future may belong to others ,But for now the present is mine.

  1. The good times can end all too quickly, as with a mis-step crossing the street. Yes, let's be glad for the sunshine, our cats (dogs if you insist), or our pretty cars.
